High End Makeup Essentials and Must Haves

High End Makeup Essentials and Must Haves
I recently did a video on my favorite high end makeup products, which I consider to be my essentials and must haves, so I thought I would make a post to go along with it (the video is linked below).

These are in no way things you need to buy, but I find myself reaching for them and they're very good quality if you're looking for some new things to try out.

Make Up For Ever HD Foundation: I've repurchased this at least three times before, and it's the first high end foundation I ever tried. They have a very good color range, so it's worth giving it a look if you usually struggle finding a shade that matches. It's water based and it's great if you have oily but dehydrated skin (like me), which is why the sales assistant recommended it to me way before I even knew those two things could come together. I wear the shade 117, and for reference, I also use MAC NC15, Nars Sheer Glow in Gobi, Revlon Nearly Naked in 120.

Benefit Fake Up concealer: it has a light coverage, which is why I don't reach for it most of the time to cover my dark circles (and because of the price tag), but it makes for a great base under any other concealer if you struggle with creasing. It's not good for blemishes, though, so if that's what you're after, try something else. It's very hydrating, and that's one of the things that makes it different.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer: as someone with oily skin, I also have to deal with oily eyelids, and this is a life saver for me every time I wear eyeshadow. I couldn't do my makeup without it, and I prefer it to any other one in the market because it's not too greasy (like the Urban Decay one) and you only need the smallest amount.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette: the Naked 2 is my favorite one in the range because it has cooler tones, and that just work best for my complexion, but all their eyeshadows and palettes are amazing quality and I recommend investing in one if you don't have a go-to palette. The Naked Basics palettes are also amazing, especially for travelling since they're so compact.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface: I don't tend to wear pink blushes that much, but the quality of this range is amazing. I need to pick of more shades next time I'm somewhere where they're sold. They last a long time on your cheeks, maybe not 12 hours as it claims, but it is noticeable when you compare it to other blushes.

Dior Lip Glow balm: not really an essential, but I am obsessed with it! It's basically a pink-toned lip balm that adapts its shade to your natural lip color, but the hydration it provides is beyond compare. I've never tried anything as good as this, which is why it is sooo expensive (and because it's Dior, of course).

What are some of your favorite high end products?

How much is my face worth?

I've been seeing this post all over blogger and thought it was very interesting and fun to do, so I decided to do it myself.  It basically consists on listing all the products you use on your face on a daily basis to do your make up and add up the prices to see "how much is your face worth".

I just want to say that some products may be different every day like blush, lipstick, lipgloss and/or eyeshadow, but I tried to pick middle-priced items. Also, prices here are more expensive, so if you but these things somewhere else, it'd be different.

  • Pond's "equilibrian-t" moisturizer - 19€ (Actually my mom bought this for me and she doesn't remember the exact price but she said around 18-20€)
  • Make up for ever HD foundation - 38€
  • Dream matte powder by Maybelline - 11€
  • Garnier dark circle roll on - 8.50€
  • Maybelline pure mineral concealer - 7.50€
  • Too faced shadow insurance - 22.15€
  • Urban Decay Naked palette - 38€ (at the time I bought it)
  • NYX slide on eyeliner - 6.20€
  • Maybelline colossal volume express mascara - 11€
  • MAC blush - 22€
  • Maybelline lipstick - 10€
  • NYX round lip gloss - 2€
  • Urban Decay all nighter spray - 18€
19+38+11+8.5+7.5+22.15+38+6.20+11+22+10+2+18= 213.35€

213.35€ is a lot of money for every day make up, but obviously these products last a long time and you don't need to replace most of them in a really long time.

July 2012 favorites!

Yay!...Wait what? I think I'm the only person on Earth who doesn't like summer that much. I love summer clothes but the whole heat situation, not that much. Anyway, let's go into my favorites:

- L'Oreal Elnett hairspray.
- CoverGirl single eyeshadow in the color "french vanilla": which I use as a highlight for my brow bone.
- Too Faced Shadow Insurance eye primer.
- NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in the color "Yogurt": I use it as a base for eyeshadows that are kind of the same color and won't show up as well if I put them just on my bare lid.
- Milani baked blush in the color "Luminoso".
- Maybelline lipstick in the color 140 "Intense pink".
- Travalo: it's a travel/purse size refillable perfume bottle. One of the best things I've purchased in a while because I often forget to put perfume when I get out of the house.

As a fashion favorite I had to include these shorts from Zara because I love to wear them. The color is amazing and it even makes my legs look a bit tan (ok, not tan because I'm as pale as someone can get, but it kind of gives the illusion).

I wanted to include these 2 random food favorites because I've been eating them like crazy this month.

Beauty Haul | Revlon, Essie, Benefit, Tarte & more

These are the products I got on my trip to the United States of America. It's less than what I was expecting to get, but I'm pretty happy with everything.

I know we have Maybelline here, but these are not out yet and since everyone was saying how good they are, I had to get a couple.

Baby lips in "Peppermint" and "Pink Punch"
Then I got a bunch of things from Revlon because we don't have it in Spain, so I was very excited. First I got this Eyeshadow stick in the color "torch" and one of their new quads in "Attitude", which are neutral colors as you can see.

I also got one of their newest Just Bitten Kissable lip stains (I think that's what it's called) in the color "Sweetheart". I really like this product because it has great pigmentation, the color is really pretty and stays for a long time.

Lastly from Revlon I got to of their very famous lip butters.

Lip Butters in "Strawberry shortcake" and "Cotton candy"
From Covergirl I got their lash blast waterproof mascara and a single eyeshadow in the color "French vanilla" that I'm going to use as a highlight because I don't like wasting my "virgin" from the Naked palette.

My most expensive purchases were these three things: 2 blushes and a primer. The first blush is "Hervana" by Benefit and the other one is the Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush in "Dollface" from Tarte. The primer is Too Faced Shadow Insurance (which I actually didn't get while I was there, I got it online).

Because I bought a Benefit blush they gave me these 2 things for free. One is just an eye mask thing that says "beautification in progress" and the other one is a primer sample called "Stay don't stray".

As far as nail polish goes I got 3 but I wanted to get more. Anyway, I didn't want to look like a crazy person and I didn't want my mom to be mad at me, so that's why I only got three.

Essie's "Cute as a button", "Mojito madness" and "Shop till you drop"
Last but not least I got a body mist from the Pink line at Victoria's Secret and another one of the EOS lip balms.

I'm sorry this was pretty long, but hopefully you liked it anyway :)
