Nail of the day - Bobbing For Baubles by Essie

Today I want to show you one of my current favorite nail polishes. This is Bobbing For Baubles by Essie and it's a lovely navy color, as you can see in the picture. I really like wearing it and I think it looks very classy. It also compliments really well my pale skin, but I'm sure it'd also look amazing on darker skin tones.

This one came out a couple years ago, but After School Boy Blazer is a very similar navy and it's from their newer winter collection, so if you can't find the one I'm showing, that one is pretty close (although a bit more dark).

Este salió hace un par de años, pero After School Boy Blazer es un azul marino muy parecido y es de la nueva colección de invierno, así que si no encontráis este, el otro es casi lo mismo (aunque un poco más oscuro).

Update! :)

I don't know if you've noticed but I haven't been posting things recenlty, and I wanted to tell you why.
This year is been really stressful for me; my college schedule is completely different in a bad way. I don't seem to have time to do my college work, let alone blogging.
Also, some of you know that I started a YouTube channel back in April and I've been focusing on that, which is my "fault" obviously, but really I started this blog cause I was scared of making YouTube videos.
Anyway, I've learned to love blogging almost as much as making videos, so I'm not going to stop.
I'm not going to be posting as frequently as I used to, but every once in a while (I don't know when) you'll be seeing posts from me.

This is not a goodbye, it's just a see you later, because I'll be posting things for all of you, like I said.

But, if you want to know what I'm up to, you can always go to my YouTube :)

and if you're reading this, thank you so so much for your support! <3

Nail of the day - Gold and red

It's almost December and that means Christmas is around the corner, so I wanted to do something festive with my nails. I'm not good at nail art, so I thought I'd just do an accent nail.

I chose Essie's Headmistress and OPI's Goldeneye (from the James Bond collection) for that one accent nail, this is what it looks like:

I applied 2 coats of each nail polish. As you can see, the Essie one is completely opaque but the OPI one could have used another coat because it's a glitter nail polish on a clear base (although it's thicker than most glitter polishes)

I really like the combination of these two colors and I think it's perfect for the holidays.

Weekly photos #32

Why do I feel like every single week I tell you that I'm stressed? This is my third year in college and it's the first one that I'm getting pressure and stress. I don't know if it's because of the schedule or something else, but I barely have time to turn my essays in and study for exams.

1. Since I barely have time for anything and I don't like thinking about lunch ideas, I eat pasta at least 4 times a week. Crazy!
2. I'm so excited to watch Breaking Dawn part 2! I might go watch it this week with my friend Cristina, so I'll tell you what I think about it.
3. Selfie in the entrance of my building...I don't really know what you call it lol
4. I got a package from Beauty Bay! :) I bought 3 nail polishes that I'll be showing you soon and then I just got another Urban Decay all nighter spray cause I run out of mine.

Paris palette by Sigma | Review and swatches

Today I want to review a Sigma palette for you. The reason why I want to do this is because this palette is fairly expensive and it's nice to see what you're going to get if you decide to spend the money on it.

First of all, now that I've started with that, it costs $59. I found a coupon online so I didn't have to pay shipping, which was very nice. This palette is limited edition but it's been on their website for a while now, so I don't know when they're going to stop selling it.

The palette comes with a sleeve that is, in my opinion, prettier than the actual palette but whatever, the important part are the eyeshadows and blushes.

Here's a picture of everything that comes with it. The brushes are travel sized ones: the eyeshadow one is an E55 and the blush one is the F40. Then it comes with 8 Paris-named eyeshadows and 3 french-named blushes. Everything is gorgeous if you ask me.

Here are some swatches of all the eyeshadows in opposite order of the photo above, so: Versailles, Triomphe, Notre Dame, Elysées, Orsay, Louvre, Seine and Eiffel. The only matte color is Louvre, which is kind of disappointing, but since all the colors are so pretty, I'm not complaining too much about it.

These are the blushes in the same order, so: Rouge, Pêche and Lumiére.

Overall I think it's worth the money because everything is pretty, wearable and pigmented. Obviously, most colors are not for every day use, but they're perfect if you're going somewhere where you want to "dress up" your make up a little bit, or even if you just want to wear a more sophisticated look.

October 2012 Favorites!

I've been very busy this month and I feel like I'm making excuses in every single post recently but here I am, and I'm going to try to post more frequently.
My favorites this month have been:

For my lips I chose this Baby Lips by Maybelline in the color "pink punch", the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable balm stain in the color "sweetheart" and the L'Oreal Caresse lipstick in the color "mauve cherie".

As for eyeshadow, I've been loving these two L'Oreal color infallible shadows; the colors are "pebble grey" and "hourglass beige". They're both very pigmented and gorgeous.

I've also been loving these two blushes: the first one is the Tarte amazonian clay 12-hour blush in the color "dollface" and the other one is a MAC blush in the color "stay pretty" which came out in a recent collection, so I don't know if it's still available or not. The brush that I've been using a lot to apply my brush is from Forever 21 (which is crazy to me) and it's the softest ever! It came in a set for around 8€.

This is a little more random but I've been loving that bracelet from H&M and a cleansing water from Biotherm biosource, which is actually a foam when you pump it.

What have you been loving this month?

How much is my face worth?

I've been seeing this post all over blogger and thought it was very interesting and fun to do, so I decided to do it myself.  It basically consists on listing all the products you use on your face on a daily basis to do your make up and add up the prices to see "how much is your face worth".

I just want to say that some products may be different every day like blush, lipstick, lipgloss and/or eyeshadow, but I tried to pick middle-priced items. Also, prices here are more expensive, so if you but these things somewhere else, it'd be different.

  • Pond's "equilibrian-t" moisturizer - 19€ (Actually my mom bought this for me and she doesn't remember the exact price but she said around 18-20€)
  • Make up for ever HD foundation - 38€
  • Dream matte powder by Maybelline - 11€
  • Garnier dark circle roll on - 8.50€
  • Maybelline pure mineral concealer - 7.50€
  • Too faced shadow insurance - 22.15€
  • Urban Decay Naked palette - 38€ (at the time I bought it)
  • NYX slide on eyeliner - 6.20€
  • Maybelline colossal volume express mascara - 11€
  • MAC blush - 22€
  • Maybelline lipstick - 10€
  • NYX round lip gloss - 2€
  • Urban Decay all nighter spray - 18€
19+38+11+8.5+7.5+22.15+38+6.20+11+22+10+2+18= 213.35€

213.35€ is a lot of money for every day make up, but obviously these products last a long time and you don't need to replace most of them in a really long time.

Weekly photos #27

I've been very busy with college lately and I feel like I have no time to do other stuff. It's consuming a lot of time and my week seems quite short, that's one of the reasons why I don't like college, but I only have 2 more years to go including this one.

1. Gossip Girl's new season has started, yay! I've been watching this show since day one and I love it. It's true that I love too many tv shows, but this one is no exception. If you've never watched it, you should :)
2. I came home from university one day and that was sitting on my desk. I couldn't contain my excitement! haha I'll be doing a haul soon.
3. So the Jonas Brothers are back and their concert in New York was AMAZING! I obviously couldn't go, but they had these online tickets for $10 so you could watch an online live streaming and those have been the best $10 I've ever spent in my life! They're my favorite band and I'm so happy they're performing together again :)
4. I was going through my bags and I found this in one of them, the one I wore when I went to London. Nando's was so good. But this leads me to something different, because my sister and I might be going to London for a few days during Christmas time!!!!! I really want to go see Wicked (the musical) and my sister's never been to London, so we're thinking about it....well, she's thinking about it because to me it's an easy yes!

Satin Taupe by MAC | Review + Swatches

Satin Taupe is one of MAC's most famous eyeshadows. I was at the MAC counter the other day because I wanted something from the new collection but I couldn't stop looking at their eyeshadows, so I asked the lady there to recommend a neutral one. This is the first one she mentioned and after she told me the name I already knew I was getting it. I also bought Wedge, but I'll do another post for that one.

As you can see it is a beautiful shimmery taupe eyeshadow. If you look closely you can see that the shimmer is silver, and you can also notice if you look at it at an angle with the light.

I think it is a staple piece for any make up collection and I don't know why I didn't purchase it before. Even though it is a little dark, I think it can be worn in a daily look if you only use a little. Also, it is highly pigmented as you can see in this next picture:

It is definitely a new favorite of mine. What do you think?
Also, let me know if you're loving any MAC eyeshadow that you think I might also like :)

Weekly photos #17

I'm really sorry I haven't been posting as much lately but I promise I have a lot of posts ready for you guys. Anyway, this week has been pretty fun for me since I've been seeing all of my friends and that makes me happy.

1 & 2. I went to a park here in Madrid called Retiro with my friends. We love to go there because it's a little bit less hot than the rest of the city because of all the trees and plants. We just like to sit on the grass and talk for hours. We also took some pictures.
3. I've been watching the Olympics and basketball games make me so tense. Spain's team is really good in my opinion but there are some moments in which I just want to scream at the tv haha. ps: my cat likes to block my view by laying down on the table.
4. Salad is my favorite food, I think I've mentioned it a million times already, but still :)

5. Starbucks is my guilty pleasure.
6. Another picture of my cat. She's like my baby and I hold her like one.
7. That's me after filming my July favorites the other day.
8. Tea is another passion of mine. Did I have another picture of iced tea last week?

Weekly photos #16

Don't you guys get really bored in summer when you're in your city? I do. I can't find things to do when I'm at home; the only thing is going shopping, and as much as I love it, it's no good.

1. I got sick this week. I randomly got a fever; I really don't know why it happened, but it went away in a day, so that was nice.
2. When I don't know what to do I find myself organizing or cleaning my room. This week I organized my make up drawers because I just had everything everywhere; it was chaos.
3. It's always nice to see the streets almost empty in summer around lunch time. It's weird, but it feels like the city is mine in a way...do you know what I mean or am I just crazy?
4. They opened a frozen yogurt place really close to my house! I'm so excited!

5. I went to the store and saw that they had the Maybelline color tattoo creme eyeshadows so I picked one up. I have to say that I really like it and I think I'm gonna go back and get another one.
6. Iced tea in summer is pretty much the best thing. I love hot tea, but I feel like it's too much right now, so I just add a few ice cubes and make it iced tea. Favorite thing to drink.
7. As you all probably know, the olympic games have begun and I watched the opening ceremony and, personally, liked it (nothing to do with the fact that JK Rowling was there, as well as a huge Lord Voldemort).
8. I went and saw The Dark Knight Rises today. Actually I just came back from the movie theater and it was AMAZING! I think you all should see it if you haven't already. Anyway, the subway was pretty much empty, so I took a picture there. (I know, I'm weird).

Jennifer Lawrence inspired make up

You all know I'm a huge Hunger Games fan, so I was very happy to create this look. I got my inspiration from her look at the Hunger Games premiere, where she wore a pretty brown smokey eye, peachy cheeks and really light colored (almost nude) lips.

For my eyes I used the color "buck" from the Naked Palette as a base, the third color from the Revlon quad in "Attitude" for my crease and the darkest color in that same quad for my outer corner and I also put a little bit down my lower lash line. To highlight my brow bone I used a single eyeshadow from CoverGirl in the color "french vanilla", and to highlight my inner corner I used an eyeshadow from Bourjois called "citron givré".

My eyeliner is NYX Slide On pencil in "Jet black" and my mascara is CoverGirl Lash Blast (the waterproof version).

For my cheeks I used MAC's blush in "Launch Away!" (that came out with their Hey Sailor! collection) which is just a very light peachy color.
And last but not least I used MAC's lipstick in "Creme Cup" on my lips and NYX's lipgloss in "Mauve". This combination created a light pink color that can look a little nude as well.

If you want to see all the steps, you can go watch the video I made:

What do you think of this look?

Weekly photos #12, #13 and #14

Hello everyone!! I'm back!
As you may or may not know, I've been in the USA for the past 2 weeks and that's why I didn't have the time to post my weekly photos those two weeks. I didn't want to skip them, so I'm combining them into this post.

ps: I'm sorry for the amount of pictures; hopefully this doesn't get too overwhelming.

1. I usually hate packing but since I was only going away for 2 weeks, it was easier than last time I went over there...and I didn't take that many things either, which was weird.
2. Don't you guys hate waiting at the airport? I do. I just don't know what to do.
3. The flight is not that much fun either, and my first one was 11 hours! Yes, you read that right. That's the longest I've been inside a plane, and it was pretty boring.
4. I, of course, took some cloud pictures because that's what you do, right?

5. Hey there! I got sun burnt from going to the pool haha Random fact about me: I'm allergic to the sun (my skin gets random spots if I'm exposed to the sun for too long).
6. My favorite thing about being in america: buying new make up that is not out in Spain yet!
7. I think red velvet cupcakes are my favorite...yum!!
8. And Subway is also my favorite. I seriously would eat subway every single day if I had one close to me here.

9. Me and my two best friends from the states just being silly. I miss them already! :(
10. Another favorite of mine, the Snapple kiwi strawberry juice: it's the best.
11. I had some Ben & Jerry's while I was waiting at the airport in Dallas. Like I said, I don't know what to do while waiting, so I just got some ice cream.
12. Oh my god! I almost freaked out when I saw The Hunger Games was on the list of movies on the plane. I don't know about you but I always cry when I see that movie and this time was no exception; thankfully the lights were out and (I think) no one saw me.

I also want to add a few pictures that I took with my camera, since all the ones above were taken with my phone.

Demi Lovato inspired make up tutorial

I made a Demi Lovato inspired make up tutorial on my YouTube channel a while ago and I thought I should share it with all of you blog readers as well.
I made it because my friend's sister requested it but I realized it is a lot of fun, so I would be making more make up tutorials on there.
I only took like 3 pictures of the look and that's because I was just testing the camera position; I was not thinking about posting it on here, but I saw the photos and I was like: why not?

Hope you like it. (by the way, the look includes eye make up, cheeks and lips, even if you can't see it in the picture).

If any of you has any request, please tell me and I'll be happy to make it :)

Weekly photos #7

This week's been really boring. I have one week of class left (plus finals) and everything's crazy with papers due and all of that stuff. That's why I haven't done anything exciting this week and won't probably do anything exciting the next few ones either. Anyway, here are some pictures:

1. I cleaned some of my brushes. I usually procrastinate a lot on that (and so many more things) but since I didn't have to clean all of them, I did it pretty quickly.
2. This is just a picture of me in one of the restrooms in my college. Yeah, the door is pink. Every floor in the building has a different color and my floor this year has been pink, which was something exciting for me haha.
3. It's almost summer, and that means it's time to eat gazpacho, which is kind of like a cold tomato and cucumber soup we make in Spain. I love it :)
4. And of course, I had to take a picture of something "study" related. Pretty boring, but that's how my week was.

I hope you had a little more fun than I did :)

Outfit of the day - It's warm!!

It now feels like spring...and even summer. We've been getting really high temperatures and that's the worst when you have to go to class and try to listen to professors for 2 hours straight. But I'm glad I can start wearing my flats and even my sandals, as you can see in this post.

This is what I wore yesterday:

Cami - Zara
Top - Forever 21
Jeggings - Stradivarius
Sandals - Forever 21
Necklace - ASOS

I don't usually wear eyeshadow when I go to class but I was bored and I had time, so I decided to go ahead and get a little more fancy than usual with my make up.

Outfit of the day (from last week-ish)

I totally forgot about this. Last week, while I was out of town for a few days, I decided to take these pictures one day to show you what I was wearing. If you've seen my weekly photos from last week, you can see this is the outfit I wore to the movies to watch The Hunger Games for the second time.

You can probably see that my sister's not the best at taking outfit pictures and these look kind of weird (I think she took them from higher than she's supposed to, or something) but you can still see the outfit, so it's ok.

Awkward pose

More awkward posing
My make up was very simple and natural looking since I was going to the movies with my family.

Top - H&M
Jeggings - Stradivarius
Shoes - H&M

All Nighter setting spray REVIEW!

All Nighter by Urban Decay is a spray that it's supposed to make your make up stay longer without fading. I got the spray around Christmas time and I've been using it every day ever since.

Price: It cost me 22.60€ but I don't know if you can get it a little cheaper in other countries.
The bottle: it comes with 118ml of product. I don't think the bottle is too big, but it isn't small. I think it's going to last me a really long time.
How I use it: I spray it about 3 or 4 times on my face right after I apply my make up from a 20-30 cm distance. I don't measure it but I like spraying it from a distance so it doesn't actually wet my face. It dries pretty quickly anyway.
Results: I feel like my make up does stay longer. It claims 16 hours but I just haven't worn make up that long, so I don't know if it's actually true or not.

It can also be used to hydrate your face when it's cold outside. I heard some people say they spray it also other times during the day to make their faces feel more fresh, so I guess you can also do that.

Overall, I really recommend this product to all of you; and even though some people may say it's a bit pricey, it's going to last you a long time and it's worth the money.

New Year's Eve (tutorial)

This is my first time doing a tutorial and you're going to notice I haven't quite figured out how to set my camera, lighting and all that stuff...yet.
Even though that's not the best, I hope you all still enjoy this fun tutorial I created for New Year's Eve.

1. Apply any eye primer you have. Here I'm using Urban Decay's "Primer Potion"
2. With a flat shader brush, cover your lid with any gold color you have. I'm using "half baked" from the Naked Palette (also by Urban Decay).
3. Apply a darker gold color (or brown if you don't have dark gold) to the outer corner of the eye and the crease. I used "smog" from the Naked Palette.
4. Highlight your brow bone with any highlight color. I used "virgin", also from the Naked Palette but you can find highlight colors everywhere and you can also skip this step if you don't have any.

5. Get a little of gold eyeline under your water line, below your lower lash line to make it pop even more. Here I used NYX slide on, glide on pencil in "glitzy gold".

6. Apply black eyeliner to your water line.
7. Apply your favorite mascara. Mine is the Maybeline Colossal Volume Express waterproof.
8. To finish the look, apply blush (Milani's baked blush in "luminoso") and any lipstick or lipgloss (NYX mega shine lipgloss in "tea rose").

And here's the finished look:

xoxo
